Cannabis Course FAQs

Investing in employee training ensures that employees know how to follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and other industry-specific quality and safety practices.

Currently in the United States and Canada, cannabis edibles are regulated at the state, province or local level.

In the U.S., the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) continues to evaluate the best framework under which to govern cannabis overall. To date, some rules have been established for cannabis as a dietary supplement but there is little federal guidance on cannabis-infused food and beverages. It is expected that when the FDA enacts federal regulations that those related to cannabis-edibles will be based on current food regulations.

Cannabis in Canada is legal for both recreational and medicinal purposes under different regulations and licenses and via provincial governments. Cannabis food safety regulations requiring hazard analysis and risk based preventive controls are very similar to the FSMA Human Food Rule in the U.S.

Level I and III of the Cannabis Edibles Safety Course© are based on the requirements that are part of the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA). These courses will give learners a strong foundation on which to create safe, high quality cannabis-infused edibles.

Without federal mandates in place, responsible manufacturers still want to ensure that their products are high quality and safe for consumers. Training employees and implementing food safety programs can prevent contamination and ensure that edibles in your dispensary are safe. These measures protect company reputation and build credibility for all cannabis edible producers.

Eventually, the FDA will publish regulations for cannabis-infused edibles. Pursuing training now puts you a step ahead of your competition.

Once you complete the course, you will automatically be granted the ability to download a certificate of completion. The cost of the certificate is included in the course price.
